The Conversation Your Relationship Needs
Sexual dissatisfaction in long-term relationships is incredibly common and almost universally under-discussed. Most couples avoid the topic until it reaches a breaking point, at which point the conversation is already loaded with resentment, hurt feelings, and defensiveness. That's a hard place to start.
The research on this is unambiguous: communication about sex is one of the strongest predictors of both sexual and relationship satisfaction, and it becomes more important, not less, as relationships age (MacNeil & Byers, 2009). And yet, for many couples who have been together for decades, this is a conversation they have never actually had.
